Over three years ago when I moved back from New York and wanted to start my little business I tossed the idea of doing holiday mini sessions for families. I thought over this for a very long time. I knew I didn’t have the time or patience for it so I decided not to for the past two years. Plus I was still learning and growing my business. To be honest for several months some people didn’t even realized I had moved back so it took a while.
After gaining confidence in myself and learning from other photographers who have hosted mini sessions for years and years I decided 2018 was the year for me. I set out and started planning. I knew I wanted to do a holiday themed mini session marathon but wanted to have a second option for fall scenery just in case. A friend of mine from church offered up their field to me late last year (she might have forgotten but I held onto that thought). It was the perfect setting with an old barn, a metal gate, huge field and perfect trees.
After putting out a poll on Instagram (thank you trusty Insta stories) you all were interested. Even though I started advertising too late in the year, it was super successful! I couldn’t be more thankful for those who supported me. I’m still debating if this will become an annual tradition – shoot me an email or DM if you plan to book me for next year’s holiday mini sessions!
I loved how this year’s holiday mini sessions felt like a farmhouse Christmas. There were even little kittens running around the land, which made for a few laughs when the pups came over. Of course I had to wait until all the Christmas cards were sent out, so I hope you enjoy!
Again, Thank you to all of the families and couples who came out! I had so much fun. And a huge thank you to Lee Ellen Rudisell Oeser and her family for letting me use their field 🙂
