Meredith and Ben’s super sweet engagement session was a total blast. I love when my couples get the chance to travel to my hometown. We spent the evening frollicing around in a field and getting to know more about each other while creating new memories.
How they met
Meredith and Ben actually met in high school. She was a cross country athlete, and had developed a stress fracture in her leg that unfortunately made her unable to run. Shortly after her injury she joined a local gym where she could swim regularly in order to maintain her fitness during recovery. Ben happened to also be a member of that gym and a patron of the pool.
They ended up meeting and dating some throughout his senior year of high school and Meredith’s junior and senior years of high school. Throughout college they decided to go their separate ways a couple of times, but the Lord used each time to prepare their hearts individually for the friendship and love that they have now. And y’all I’m telling you, it’s the sweetest and most caring love you’ll ever see.
How he proposed
Meredith had just finished up her last year at UNC Chapel Hill in undergrad and over her spring break, she she returned home to visit her family. Ben would often go home at the same time, so they could easily see one another’s families and enjoy old habits and make their favorite memories back home. They would often take turns planning their weekend activities and this time in particular, Ben had planned the day. He picked her up super early that morning and drove to Morrow Mountain State Park.
They hiked all the way to the top (getting lost twice) and Ben had brought an awesome picnic lunch for the two of them to share. After they ate, they walked to the overlook and that’s where he popped the question! It was absolutely perfect (and I was super jealous hearing this story). They said the trails were very quiet that day so they got to spend the entire walk down the mountain just the two of them. I mean how divine and perfect is that??
After, Ben had planned a romantic dinner at a sushi restaurant and then went back to Meredith’s house where he had organized a little engagement celebration with both of their parents, her sisters and best friend. Oh what a wonderful and perfect day!
It turned out that Ben had stalked her pinterest board to find out the ring style she liked. Worked with the jeweler to carefully decide and pick out the perfect ring for a beautiful girl. Just like how the Lord perfectly orchestrated their relationship throughout college, all the way to the most perfectly planned proposal.
Meredith and Ben drove all the way from Chapel Hill and got the chance to go home and see their families in the Monroe area before their super sweet engagement session. They are the sweetest, cutest and most adorable couple and I just love how sweet their love is for one another. I’m so privileged to document their love story and I can’t wait for their big day next June (which apparently is on the longest day of the year).
